What is KATEIKA?
Home Economics (KATEIKA) is one of the subjects taught in both primary and high schools in Japan. Students acquire knowledge and skills related to food, clothing, and housing. Through this, they understand the significance of family life and cultivate a practical attitude aimed at improving lifelong learning skills.
The project will cover three content areas related to:
- Family and Family Life
- Life of food, clothing, and housing
- Consumer Life and Environment
The activities will enhance learning to foster a feeling of the following:
Valuing family life: cooperating with family work as a member of the family
Learning activities to develop the ability to relate better with people: interacting with family members and people of different generations in the community.
